Is the internet diminishing or building relationships?

Some people believe that emails and online conversations replace offline relationships, but many believe that they only compliment offline relationships. I think that email and online communication is very important. I believe that a good online relationship goes hand in hand with a good offline relationship. The internet is important for everyday life. I can create and send my resume online, which in time will lead to a face to face interview. This process of emailing has saved the applicant and employer very much time and energy. I know that they read my resume, know what to expect and are interested in my skills.  While they know, out of the hundreds or thousands of resumes, that they can schedule interviews with the applicant that has the skills and knowledge to complete the job needed. The email is a way to smooth out the roughness and the interview is the personal test. Internet is also important for a way to keep in contact with important people. Most people cannot pick up the phone regularly and call old friends and family, but they can email them. I have to admit i have facebook. I use it to talk to my cousins, sisters and friends all over the world. I know what’s going on in their lives and can catch up with them if i dont. I use the internet to schedule times to meet up with them, book my flights and everything else needed to get together with the people i love to have that physical connection. Without a doubt the internet has a positive effect in strengthening relationships. The internet provides a never-ending connection of resources. Whether it is something simple like finding a couch on craigs list or finding a job after graduating, the internet comes along with all of your friends, family and important needs.

I agree missy. The internet overall has benefited our day to day lives more than harmed it.

I have to tell you the internet scares me, but I guess it has made our lives easier and helped with networking and keeping in touch with people. You just have to know how to limit your dependence on a machine and keep some of that face time.
